I was wondering when Minecraft themed maps would make their way to Counter-Strike 2 as it's been a while ever since the transition was made and no maps of the genre made early appearances. I'm very, very happy to announce that we've got our FIRST brand new Minecraft map in CS2 and only very recently got released to the public (15th of March).

Minecraft Sakura is a superb and highly detailed Zombie Escape map crafted by the love of the original games combined and with incredible attention to artwork, thematic material, the Minecraft blocky reference aspect, the lighting and so on. For something that has been designed from scratch it basically surpasses all and any previous Minecraft maps and on top of that excels in almost all categories. If there is anything I can say, it's that the map, for now, seems a bit rough for zombies, with special attention to some teleports that put the zombies into an inescapable farming spot.

Regardless, the gameplay is fantastic, and the visuals make it all the more appealing. I mean, just look at the Sakura trees and how nicely it all fits together. They took advantage of the new engine's mechanics to accomodate the entirity of the level design effort to bring us something fresh and exciting. I haven't been this happy for a new release in many years, and I think this could be a nice boost to kick off Zombie Escape for the future of this new version.

An absolute marvellous new release, and a map that every CS2 server should be running right now. Recommended for everyone who's a big fan of the genre, new players and veterans alike. Have fun!
