Hello and welcome to the Eight of episode of “Counter Strike – In Depth”. Today we have a high capacity high rapid firing pistol. A T-sided handgun which will be loved by every run and gun player with itchy trigger fingers. This is the Tec-9
The Tec-9 is a Swedish handgun created in 1985 by Interdynamic. This handgun was also produced highly in the united states by intratec, the USA headbranch of Interdynamic. It comes in many designs but the model depicted in game is the KG-9 Variation as indicated by the position of the cocking handle and the high capacity magazine which doubles as a forgrip. While the Tec-9 did show promise for the cheaper fire arms market it received a large amount of negative press by being used in many gun crimes including several school shootings. This lead to the assault weapons ban with the Tec-9 at centre stage and this famous variation was banned from production due to its barrel shroud and lack of sporting ability.
In counter-strike Global Offensive the Tec-9 is a terrorist weapon only and can be found in the handgun section in place of the CZ-75. It costs $500 to purchase and grants $300 per kill. It holds 24 Rounds with an additional 120 rounds in reserve, totalling 144 rounds and can be reloaded in 2.7 seconds. The Tec-9 has the highest amount of rounds for any handgun and you will be glad you had them. The Tec-9 is an unstoppable bullet hose of a handgun and its veracious appetite for lead requires a health reserve for bullets.
The tec 9 does have pretty high damage and armour penetration, taking very few bullets to drop opponents with its 90% armour penetration. One thing the tec-9 isn't tho is accurate. While its first shot while not moving is accurate, every following round in rapid fire will be sprayed all round your point of aim in a wide circular patten meaning you wont be shooting pin point accuracy every time.
But that is not the purpose of this weapon, it is meant for the rushing player who wants to drive the CT's back who will face a never ending wall of lead if they remain still. The Tec-9 is a great eco weapon. Its high armour penetration and cheap price means you can still take down you opponents quickly however you will still struggle to out shoot riflers on the CT side. Try using you high movement pistol speed to get as close to or flank around your opponents to drop them in close quarters rather then shooting it out over long distance where they have the advantage.
It can be a suitable choice for the pistol round, at $500 you can purchase this weapon and smoke grenade however you should first see what your team is buying, if there are several smoke grenades already you may be better off purchasing armour instead.
The tec-9 is not the most versatile handgun, but is a great choice for rushers or as a reliable side arm for any other player who is near the action. Its not very accurate but has enough ammo to spam away at your opponents to force them into cover. If you need to send the ct's to there doom, you need a pistol, that isn't too tec-nical.
