The Weapon Vault - Power Armor - Fallout 4 Weapon Guide
Post war America is one one of the most dangerous places on earth. In a land filled with bandits, monsters and deadly radiation you need the best protection on offer to stand a chance of surviving, and this time , i'm not talking about guns...welcome to the weapon vault
In this episode we are taking a look at an idea that dates back to the medieval age, but with a sci-fi cyberpuk twist. This is Power Armour.
In the fallout universe the USA could no longer fuel their vast array of military vehicles due to fuel shortage's so an alternative was needed, and power Armor was the answer. This armor was thick enough to stop bullets and explosions but needed to be robotic in design to shift its own weight. Power armour first emerged at the Battle of Anchorage in 2077 and was decisive in beating back the invading Chinese who were desperate for their own source of nuclear energy, which the USA was reluctant to share. This defeat in Anchorage ultimately scaled up tensions in the world, and lead to the use of nuclear weapons ending the world was we knew it.
Power Armour can be found all across the common wealth in various different ranges, They are the T-45, The T-51, The T-60, Raider, and the incredibly useful X-01. They differ in appearance and rarity, but they all offer the same crucial benefit. Increased strength, increased radiation resistance, The ability to walk under water, no fall damage and increased defence. To use power armour you need several items, A power armour frame that will hold the pilot, which can be found on empty suits or bought from vendors such as the atom cats. Next you will need a fusion core, this acts as the battery power for your suit and can be found in power generators or purchased. Finally you need the armor components which are divided into arms, legs, torso and helmet. You don't need every component to equip the armour nor do they all need to be in the same range, you can mix and match as you please.
The Power armors come with a wide variety of customizations, which are governed by the blacksmith, armorer and science perks. These include custom paint jobs, damage and defensive multipliers and extra gadgets such as custom headlamps and stealth boy abilities. I highly recommend the jet pack modification, it helps in almost every part of your travels and is especially useful in combat when you can escape to higher ground or dodge deadly attacks by taking to the skies.
Its a great idea to keep your suits repaired and in as full a state as possible, because when the going gets tough Power armour will save your skin more times then you can count. It may be an old concept, it may be a strain on your resources to maintain. but just remember, a knight who is in shining armor, has never truly tested his metal.
