This map is finally a lovely breath of fresh air amongst the majority of maps I've played in the last two years. Admittedly, I've been absent from Source for a long time, but the few videos of the past months have slowly gotten me back into the feeling and nostalgia from the good old times. Ashen Keep is one such map that I haven't had the luxury of playing much, if at all, and by beating the first level it made me aware that the gameplay combined with its styling and overall polish rings memories from when we played LOTR Minas Tirith or Final Fantasy themed maps. It boasts that same atmosphere of large levels that fits to the scale of the players, providing great powerups for both teams to make for some memorable gameplay.

Based on Dark Souls the videogame, the first level has you walking around the interior parts of the castle, going up all the way until you reach a high ceiling, all while exploring various parts of the keep. The timings make sense, the visuals are pleasing and teamplay is absolutely required.

I'm looking forward to the other levels of this map, as they aren't just rehashed difficulties of the first one. Ashen Keep is a great map, and I'd love to play it anytime of the day. Unfortunately, the last message on the Gamebanana page states that the map was incomplete, and I'm not sure if this version is a completed version by either Soft Serve himself or someone else... here's hoping the map is complete.
