Algorithm: lines in 3D space wind around each other in the following colours: red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, yellow, white. The lines may branch. The aim is to fill up the space - there may be gaps between the lines or they may be touching but they cannot intersect if they are different colours.

This is a *human generated* algorithm in that the formula above is embodied by me as I position the cubes that make up these lines by hand in a 3D modelling program (Blender). All seven of the differently coloured lines are played back simultaneously in the way that they were drawn and then each of the differently coloured lines are played back separately.

The audio is a piece created by me that is structured like white noise - uniform intensity throughout but without pattern - like listening to a waterfall. It will be released in an album that I will be posting to my Bandamp page soon (https://robgillthings.bandcamp.com/).

This project is like many others I have completed in that I use a formula to define a spontaneously formed, open-ended structure which I then apply processes to in order to explore and reveal the creative content of the forms. In this case, the process is the replaying of the creation of the structure. This a snapshot of this piece as it is now. I will be adding more and providing updates like this in the near future as this structure continues to grow, limited in size only by my computer's processing power and memory. I will be applying other forms of analysis in the future as well.

This formula was actually used to create one of the first large-scale line pieces which I call 'Integrated Networks' completed in 2004. It was drawn in 2D using a paint program. Project page: https://robgillthings.net/projects/md/md-7/. I have made this image into giclee prints available here: https://things.robgillthings.net/collections/line-drawings/products/2d-tree-01-print-copy. At the time, I tried to redraw this line drawing in 3D using the POV-Ray renderer but only got so far. Now my skills have advanced enough that I can approach this project as a 3D structure successfully. I have also written some software in Processing that I use to create the same kind of form. I will be posting those videos in the future.
