Cuphead on VHS
The most obvious inspiration for this game was obviously 1930's cartoons, but how did the Mildenhouser Brothers watch them? Probably on VHS tapes much like this one. In the early 80's a lot of cartoons from that era fell into public domain, as such a lot of tapes of the time come from that era. One such was Castle Cartoons, as seen here. This was my way of completing the circle.
I have had some experience with these tapes, not when the where new of course. For some odd reason whenever people had stuff to give away they would give them to my Uncle. When he would come to town he would then give us what he thought we wanted. There where a lot of these tapes in there. Didn't watch too many of them, considering I just wanted Bug Bunny. All the same I do know that they had a "Adjust tracking" at the begging just like this video. I don't have anymore, since I've moved on to different likes, but I still remember them. Then I thought "What would Cuphead look like on one of these tapes?", and that's why we are here now.
