Curse of the Sea Rats Demo - Break Your Rat Curse and Save a Kid to Earn Your Freedom
41A quick playthrough of the Curse of the Sea Rats demo, an upcoming metroidvania where everyone on a ship is transformed into rats and you're hunting down the pirate witch that did such to also rescue an admiral's kid which will earn your freedom. Plus helped by the spirit trapped in the piece of the witch's amulet to break the curse and become human again. Quite a list of happenings and goals.
The art style is very well-done and gameplay is mostly solid. Maybe it's the lack of a dodge roll or dash but committing to your third swing roots you in place a bit which can make getting out of the way of attacks a bit troublesome. Having leveling and the skill trees be separate is a bit curious but the perks available in the demo are pretty minor. Dying loses half of your spirit energy but you can return to where you died to reclaim the missing half.
Overall, well worth keeping your eye on this game.
