CYBERPUNK 2077: More an RPG or FPS Game? | Hybrid Discussion
Based on what we've heard of people who actually played Cyberpunk 2077, it seems like the game will feel more like an RPG game with FPS being secondary and even not a necessity depends on how you decide to approach missions.
Many mentioned that the FPS experience felt much slower, some enemies felt like bullet sponges. The RGP element is definitely defining the experience and has much less weight on the FPS experience. Some mentioned that FPS fans should know that they shouldn't expect the same fast-paced FPS experience as many standard shooters out there that don't emphasize RPG elements.
There are many hybrid (FPS/RPG) games out there like Borderlands 3, Tom Clancy's The Division 2, Destiny 2, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Fallout 4, Mass Effect, Warframe, and others. However, some have more emphasis on one aspect of the genres than others.
From what I've seen and heard, we can expect Cyberpunk 2077 to feel and play more like an RPG than an FPS. What this means, well, probably more bullet sponge enemies, lots of customization and build options, ability to approach combat in many different situations, more complex situations that might have negative or positive outcomes based on how you decide to approach the battle and with which weapons, etc.
