This atmospheric piece blends ethereal textures, gritty low-end drones, and ethereal cyberpunk tones into a slow, meditative sci-fi soundscape that invites relaxation within a digital dream state. “Neural Drift” expands the original KUSANAGI project with unreleased material, exploring consciousness and identity. This longform ambient composition is perfect for deep focus, creative work, or simply escaping the noise of the modern world through meditation and introspection.

“Neural Drift” was built through longform experimentation with electronic loops, layered field recordings, and synth atmospheres. No AI was used in the making of this track, just hours of sound design and inspiration drawn from Kenji Kawai’s work with 1995’s Ghost in the Shell. Neural Drift is a sonic love letter to the philosophical and introspective nature of cyberpunk media.
The song was written as part of my KUSANAGI ambient album, also inspired by Ghost in the Shell, but was not included as part of the final release. I felt even though I personally was influenced by the film, that influence did not show in the final version of this track. Neural Drift was a lot closer to something from Cyberpunk 2077 which I had also been playing through at the time. Nonetheless, I still spent quite a bit of time on this one and feel as though it would be a shame to not release it in some form.
