Cycle Chaser H-5 (Switch): Advance/Backbeat Mode: Act 9: DEVOLUTION (Final Boss & Better Ending)
Rest assured, I've seen SEVERAL improvements to how this final boss of the game fights in Advance Mode compared to Basic Mode. Brand new shots seen across the multiple phases of his fight.
It was enough for me to have to attack him more slowly as I was more focused on dodging his dizzying patterns and such.
Either way, in the last leg of his absolute final health bar, he'll still pull out his final cannon that you basically have to muscle through with your shields in order to lay on as much damage on him as possible to finish DEVOLUTION off!

In Advance Mode, the ending falls the same way as it did in Basic Mode, where we get a full explanation of this game's backstory and lore, how DEVOLUTION was made, and how this would eventually lead to Pilot #2612's journey.
Beating this in Advance Mode will also give you bonus art of the Pilot and their new Superweapon friend.
I've noticed that between this game, Somnabuster, and an upcoming game (as of this writing) called Disaster Arms (which, surprisingly enough, actually takes place within the setting of Cycle Chaser’s prologue war), the developer had assembled calling these games altogether the "Impact Project" series. That's pretty cool for me to keep track of and memorize one way or another.
The game rewards you for beating it on Advance Mode with two new weapons to use besides the Lead weapon: Backbeat and Noise.
Though… I think this message was accidentally carried over from the original Steam release of this game, as I have access to these weapons from the very start on this Switch version. This entire 1CC Advance Mode run was already played using the Backbeat weapon.
Oh well, either way, if I'm gonna play through this game one more time, I'd do it on its hardest difficulty, Impact Mode, and use the Noise weapon for it.
Thanks for watching! Stay tuned for whenever I eventually go for this third and final run!
