Solution 1. Here,
Speed of light in water, v = 2.25 x 108 m/s
Speed of light in vacuum, c = 3 x 108 m/s,
Refractive index, n = ?
n = c/v
n = 3 x 108 / 2.25 x 108
n = 1.33
2. How much time will light take to cross 2 mm thick glass pane if refractive index of glass is 3/2?
a. 1010
b. 10-10
c. 1011
d. 10-11
Solution 2. Here,
t = ?
x = 2 mm = 2 x 10-3 m
n = 3/2
From, n = c/v
v = c/n = 3 x 108 / (3/2) = 2 x 108 m/s
