Dakar 18: 1st Gameplay review (Xbox one) dunes and despair
21in this rough stream footage, We play Dakar 18 for xbox 1 for our very first time. Right away you are left with no real sense of direction or explanation on the controls and all the HUD features unless you know longitude/latitudes and the general understanding of Rally direction callouts . So regretting our choices to bypass the tutorial, we choke back a bit of rage, Learning as we go and loosing laptime swiftly. ( Not Advised)
Pros:
Based off world famous Dakar Rally, Real Replica Rally vehicles, real world brands, Established .rally names and teams throughout. authentic damage options. sponsorship brands , layouts are actually designed off the real thing and locations. open world'ish, diverse in the driver seat playing experience, immersive gameplay. semi decent graphics, quick loading times. super challenging AI Racers.
Cons:
Cant skip tutorial, Rarely able to see tire lines or Bad vehicle handling, bulking basic steering, super picky invisible checkpoints, occasional checkpoint places poorly causing unexpected and unavoidable crashing. Co pilot directional call outs are unreliable at best, sometimes giving the wrong directions entirely at points. Overly skilled AI racers, nearly impossible to climb the season rankings even when racing on the rookie difficulty setting. poor general accessibility options or features. Alot of hitting invisible walls and dead ends.. i could keep going but by now you've probably got it figured out that even something like Diddler-kong racing or crash bandicoot racing for the N64 may be a more rewarding and much less frustrating experience and use of your vital gaming time.
