Despite operating in the Middle East for a number of years, the RAF's most famous squadron is currently taking part in its first deployment to Afghanistan. 617 Squadron, also known as 'The Dambusters' is providing a vital role to troops on the ground from a height of up to 50,000 ft. In many ways the airmen believe comparisons can be drawn between this deployment and the historic Dambusters raid during World War Two.
