Dark Age Asunder tells the tale of an evil King Malvar who has all but destroyed nearby villages on a quest to expand his territory; his sidekick, an evil Wizard, summons endless bloodthirsty monsters to attack the innocent civilians. You, and your party of heroic adventurers, must restore the kingdom to its former glory by helping rebuild the destroyed facilities and settlements of its residents, improving their capabilities in battle, and dethroning King Malvar.
Dark Age Asunder includes a host of heroic playable characters: Karle, Sage and Valos, each with their own unique abilities and characteristics. Your chosen hero will automatically attack in the direction they are facing, and each hero has a different playstyle. As you progress through levels, a different type of enemy will spawn each minute. Enemies drop EXP gems, or potions with temporary effects. When you collect enough EXP, you can select one of three upgrades to give your character additional abilities or to strengthen their statistics for this run only. After finishing or dying during a level, you can upgrade your hero character statistics permanently in the shop using Gold you have collected while playing.
Dark Age Asunder includes resources to gather, an important element of the game. Resources available to capture are Wood, Iron, Mana, and Gold. Every minute that passes, you receive resources for each Iron Mine, Gold Mine, and Mana Well Resource Discovery you have claimed. Wood is a finite resource and can only be obtained once per Resource Discovery. These resources can be used to build structures that will help you on your journey.
Dark Age Asunder offers cycles of gameplay; at every 5-minute interval, nighttime will fall for 1 minute. During nightfall, every enemy type that has spawned in the last 5 minutes. At the end of each level, you are faced with a boss-challenge and only by defeating this foe will you successfully complete a level.
Dark Age Asunder is suitable for players of all experience levels, particularly those with a passion for rogue-lite bullet heaven and base-building games. The game can be played either in short sessions with saved progress, or in longer sessions for those who are invested in the narrative.
