I can understand making glass canon builds, I commonly use them in a variety of games as the high risk is countered by the high reward and as I become better the lower the risk becomes. However in a game such as Dark Souls the importance of having some vigor investment (really anything beyond base hp values) is highly understated as it will often save you and allow you to continue on.

Until you hit stat soft caps a little less weapon ar can easily equal a lot more hp and that in turn can prove to provide more dps as you won't have to immediately back away after a mistake (in addition to surviving some really large attacks).
