"A knight from Carim and a devout of the goddess Fina. His love for Fina makes him a psychopath who doesn't care about other people and readily kills them after they served their purposes.

From his armor, it is revealed that Lautrec was an adherent of the goddess Fina. The armor description states that Lautrec "forsook everything" because he believed in Fina's love for him. This could either mean that Lautrec was delusional, or that a goddess really did love him deeply and personally—after all, interactions between gods and humans are quite common in Dark Souls.

Laturec's goals were never explained in the game. He mentions that he is on "a mission" but this is never elaborated upon. He has interacted with, and possibly been tricked by, Patches at least once prior to meeting the player, and he knows of Petrus and his background. It is possible that he killed Anastascia simply for her valuable Fire Keeper Soul, although it is found on his person after defeating him, meaning he either had neglected to use it or kept it as a trophy.

In this New Game + playthrough, (I have no idea which NG+ specifically it is, sorry! Around NG+6 I think.) I'm cosplaying as Knight Lautrec the Embraced in an attempt to clear the game.

Fuck me, I love this dude. I love Lautrec, I love his armour design, I love the fact that he's using two shotels, I love that he's from my favourite nation, the swag kingdom of Carim, I just love everything about this dude and his armour and everything. I had a lot of fun playing with this build. Sadly, it does show its limitations at times. Or perhaps that's just me who can't compensate for the discrepancies. Either way, I was frustrated near the end game. More specifically, I was losing my shit at the Artorias and Gwyn fights. Artorias because he's a fucking immortal fuck. His padded health and insane resitances to pretty much everything made that fight a chore. And Gwyn was annoying because for some reason, my fps dropped to 15! I think it was because of the burning effect on his sword. Or I don't know, could be the whole level that was dragging down my cpu for all I know!

Regardless, loved playing this build, enjoyed the shit out of the playthrough (even though I was incredibly impatient at the start which lead to many a deaths ohoy! :P ) and will probably play as this dude again!

I was kinda eh on this playthrough. Some parts had me fuming. And I was a bit restless and under pressure due to university so I wasn't myself... while playing that is. I wasn't present rather. Ugh! I'm a mess.
