The Black Knight swords were dropped by knights in Undead Parish. People on the fextralife wiki REALLY seem to like the Claymore (for its moveset--like R1 R2 R1 or something?--and maybe mostly for PVP?), and to a slightly lesser extent perhaps its "little brother" the Bastard Sword (sold by blacksmith Andre). But these don't do nearly as much damage as the Black Knight swords until they're upgraded--and the upgraded Black Knight swords still do more; of the "regular" big swords, only the Zweihander approaches them for pure damage--after upgrades. And I don't know if it was just coincidence, but although the Zweihander has great knockback, it kept getting parried and brutally countered! For now, without the materials for upgrades and the stats for the Black Knight Greatsword (which is actually an Ultra Greatsword), it's all about Black Knight Sword! ^ )_^ Jeepers it's just crushing everything in one or two hits. ; D
Swords felt kind of hard to handle to me in Demon's Souls, and there weren't any enemies the spear seemed really bad at handling, which is why I stuck with a Winged Spear (just found one here in the cemetery!) all the way through that game--but here in DS1, I don't seem to be having that handling problem with the swords, and the spear is SO bad vs the cemetery skeletons, I'm thinkin' yeah it's looking like big swords are gonna be my thing. = D
I forgot that you can't approach the Wyvern much closer than the mid-bridge stairs; you gotta shoot it with an arrow from there, then run under it as it flaps over. Eh so anyway I screwed that up and it flew off and doesn't seem to want to come back for now. ; P
Wiki-reading about it, the regular-sized sword made by cutting off the Wyvern's tail--"Drake Sword"--looks not as good as the bigger swords so maybe I won't worry too much about the Wyvern. 'p' And I missed getting whatever weapon is made from the Bell Gargoyles' tail(s); one of them WAS chopped off by one of the NPCs but I dunno where it went. ; D
Solaire turned and hurled a lighting bolt at me at one point! Didn't do any damage.
Been wondering if this new love for greatswords means I should put more points into STR than DEX but I do like bows, too--and basically the flexibility to use all the physical weapons pretty well and uh I guess get the other boosts stats give. Or, I like dodging and bows, and spears to an extent, but also big weapons. So I'll probably just stick to spreading the points evenly. Anyway it's easier to calculate, don't have to figure out a formula. ; D
HM ah the Claymore has C bonus for both STR and DEX! (Bastard Sword also.) (It's C/E for the BKS.) (Zweihander is C/D.) (BKGS is B/E.) So maybe Claymore's what I'll focus on upgrading.
