Developers: Dark Swords Firelink is a 2D pixel art Metroidvania game, gathering some of the better features that defines the 8/16-bits era, games like Ninja Gaiden, Super Ghost and Ghouls, Megaman, Castlevania and Super Metroid. Also, it gets inspired by the Dark Souls series, Hollow Knight and Blasphemous.

Dark Swords Firelink, is a 2D pixel art metroidvania, in which you will embark on an unforgettable adventure in a vast world, full of mysteries and dangers. Explore dark landscapes, extensive mountains and ancient ruins while you unravel the secret behind the dark sword, the weapon inherited from the protector of Osthem. On your way you will face fearsome creatures and challenge powerful bosses in exciting battles. As you progress through the adventure, you'll acquire special abilities and power-ups that will allow you to overcome obstacles and defeat increasingly challenging enemies.

Iggrand, a land where humans rule and have remained since their arrival on Crete. Upon encountering the primordial fire, wars again led to the near annihilation of mankind. From this time we speak of the dark swords, the most powerful of the kingdom of Lordhem, with which almost conquered the entire continent, only to fall under the rebellion of the united kingdoms and lose the power once obtained.

Firelink is the heiress of the dark sword left by her grandfather Fianor, which she had never wielded until her village Osthem was attacked by a host of creatures commanded by a huge demon. Firelink then, wields the sword to save the village by repelling the attack, and then embarks on a journey to seek revenge on the attackers and eliminate any threat that may be looming over Osthem. During the journey, she begins to understand the power of the sword, its influence on her intensifies and she manages to play an important role in the fate of Iggrand and the events that are about to unfold.

2P's Re.V.U : I must say, it was a truly enjoyable experience. The game managed to strike a perfect balance between fun and playability, keeping me engaged throughout my entire playthrough. The artwork was a testament to the dedication and talent of the developers. The pixel art was beautifully crafted, immersing me in a nostalgic atmosphere. Moreover, the physics in the game felt incredibly smooth, enhancing the overall gameplay experience.
One aspect that impressed me was the game's stability. I didn't encounter any noticeable bugs or glitches during my playtime, which is a commendable achievement. However, there were a couple of areas where I felt the game could have been improved. Firstly, the graphic design of the shadow character during her walking animations could be refined. Although the developers aimed to convey a sense of speed, it ended up appearing slightly off and took away from the otherwise immersive scenes.
Another area for improvement lies in the conversations between characters. While the game featured dialogue, I found some of the interactions to be lengthy and lacking emotional depth, resulting in a somewhat soulless experience. Additionally, the introductory storyline felt somewhat lacking in substance, leaving me wanting more engagement and investment from the very beginning.
Despite these minor drawbacks, Dark Sword remains a solid and enjoyable adventure. Its strengths lie in its engaging gameplay, impressive pixel art, and smooth physics. With a few refinements to certain aspects such as the character animations and narrative depth, Dark sword could truly become an exceptional gaming experience. Overall, I had a good time exploring this game's world and would recommend it to fellow adventure game enthusiasts.
