Dawn of Souls: Final Fantasy II: Emperor of Hell Final Boss + Ending
147I'll admit. This game's version of Hell is kinda pretty with all of the jewel architecture around. The Emperor's residence even moreso.
So now, Emperor Mateus, revived and resurrected through the powers of Hell, faces against our heroes with all of his unholy powers of the Underworld.
Take a bit more time to strengthen your party. As a final boss, the Hell Emperor should have at 3 times as much HP as the other recent bosses faced before him. This also means that you absolutely, positively, DON'T have to hold anything back.
After a while, the Hell Emperor will finally collapse. He reign over the Earth ended, and the war against him finally over. The party then returns to Castle Fynn to tell everyone there the good news.
Princess Hilda, Prince Gordon, and Nelly, the daughter of the late Josef, now plan to rebuild the entire kingdom up from what was left of it when the Emperor's Cyclone attacked, and make it brand new.
Allies Paul & Leila give the team their own speeches of praise and affection. Leila wishes for Firion to be one of her pirates, while Paul is disappointed that Firion's exploits took a huge shot at his thieving career. He's so funny.
So when all is said and done, Leon decides to leave the team, even his own sister, as there's no going back, now.
Firion, Maria, and Guy leave the castle as well, with the incredible thoughts that it was they themselves that saved the world, and now they plan to travel all over it with their Airship in order to help rebuild the world, too.
As these scenes of events are going on, the spirits of Firion's fallen comrades appear before them: Minwu, Josef, Cid, and Ricard. They all appear to be proud of their living friends' exploits, too, especially since most of them risked and/or sacrificed their own lives to save them. It's all very heartwarming.
So then after the epilogue, the credits play, starting with the staff that worked on the original NES version of Final Fantasy II, then spotlighting the names of the people who made this very GBA remake.

The game is now cleared; I've beaten Final Fantasy II. There looks to be an extra mode for this GBA remake called "Soul of Rebirth". I'll check that out.
