After checking out Astaroth's demonology, he is seen as a male. In the Final Fantasy multiverse, Astaroth is female. It's still a bit confusing for me.

Try the same or similar approach that you used on the other 3 guardian bosses. Astaroth should be the last of the what is actually a group of four bosses.

Kill her, and keep the simple, yet very helpful Ribbon you took that incurred her wrath on you in the first place. I can now finally move further on with confronting the resurrected Mateus.
