Castlevania: Bloodlines Opening
As far as I can remember, about 13 years ago, Bloodlines was the very first Castlevania game I've ever played. Thanks to the Sega Channel. Yeah. You will not believe how hardcore my family was when it came to the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive.
Unlike the likes of Pulseman, Ristar, and Rocket Knight Adventures, this was one of the least notable games I've played on that wonderful service. I still remember enough of it (a guy using a long weapon to jump high) that made me recognize it.
Now, 13 years later, I can finally reunite myself with this game!
This game's Japanese version originally just called it "Vampire Killer", but it was renamed Castlevania: Bloodlines, likely referencing how this is among the very first Castlevania games to not involve an actual Belmont as the hero of the game, but rather a very distant descendant of one, as well as his completely unrelated partner who nonetheless still has his own ties to the Belmont Clan.
----------
As the opening shows, the Belmont Clan, and associated families, have faced against the evil Count Dracula for many generations.
During the 20th century, a countess, the niece of Dracula, Elizabeth Bartley, went on an evil quest to revive her fallen uncle. In order to revive him, she has traveled all over Europe to awaken the forces of darkness across six of Europe's countries: Romania, Greece, Italy, Germany, France, and England. She had also previously contributed to the very first World War, using all of the dead souls as fuel that would revive Dracula.
To stand in her way are two different successors of the Belmont Clan: John Morris, current wielder of the Belmont's legendary Vampire Killer whip, and Eric Lecarde, wielder of the powerful Alucard Spear, which was named after, and created by, the son of Dracula, himself.
These two are tasked with traveling all over Europe, defeating any monstrous beings they face, eventually confront Elizabeth, and ultimately prevent Dracula's resurrection.
