Ha, ok, so this video wasn't actually that short, but if you're coming back to DayZ, or you're a new player, these cold-weather hints and tips should help guide you through the snow and the rain and to a lengthy run!
The key aspects on how to survive in cold temperatures and snowy wet weather is to really take care of your clothing - ring it out when it gets wet, repair it when it gets worn, and replace wet clothing whenever you can. You want to avoid your temperature icon turning blue - this means your hypothermic, so you'll start burning calories (food) really fast, and you're very likely to catch a cold or flu, which will need anti-biotics (tetracycline) to cure.
Use fireplaces to dry out clothing and give your character a heat buff, and place frozen food and drink near fireplaces (or in ovens) to defrost and melt the food so you can cook and or eat it.
You'll need to balance all of these tasks in order to survive - but the challenge is worth the reward, and I think it makes DayZ an even better game.
The above info was believed to be correct as of DayZ Exp Update Patch 1.26, Aug 2024.
Thanks, Rob.
