DCC Fitting Guide: Let's Install A DCC Decoder Into A Heljan OO Gauge Class 35 Hymek HD
This is another DCC Fitting Guide and this one is how to fit a 8 pin DCC Decoder into a Heljan OO Gauge Class 35 Hymek locomotive and the process is fairly easy to do. I did some tidying up of the wires so that they won't get snagged by anything when the bodyshell is replaced. I have used a 8 pin version of the ESU LokPilot V4 for this guide as they are excellent quality and have a 1 Amp output with overload and short-circuit protection as standard. But as I always say, you get what you pay for and investing a bit more in a higher quality decoder is better than end up replacing a cheaper decoder. Also these decoders are quieter when in operation as you don't get any of that annoying "buzzing" sound like you do with some of the cheaper DCC decoders. The decoder used in this guide is a 4 function type and is more than able to handle this model train. I am sure that this guide will be helpful to someone in the model train hobby :).
