I flew the SA342 Gazelle with four Mistral heat-seeking short-ranged air-to-air missiles. In my first encounter with the enemy (player-flown) AH-64D Apache, I shot two Mistral missiles at it which it spoofed with its excellent automated defensive suite. I landed back at my base to rearm. In my second encounter with the same Apache, I shot FOUR Mistral missiles at it, and only the last hit it, downing it. It was a tough nut to crack, the Apache, with heat-seeking missiles. If it was an Ataka air-to-air missile which would be steered manually with TV guidance, only one missile would be needed to score a kill. All four of my Mistral missiles could have been spoofed. I was just lucky. The Apache player either exited the server prior to his Apache crashing to the ground, or he switched aircraft. I still got the so-called "war bonds" that signified a kill. The server paid 'war bonds" for kills. I got 1,250 war bonds for the Apache kill. The war bonds are used to get access to aircraft and munitions (to pay for them).
