Two Apaches were downed with air-to-air Ataka missiles (manual TV-guided steering) while the last with guns, but he switched aircraft before the kill had been registered denying me my third Apache kill tally.

The air-to-air variant of the Ataka missile isn't as backward as I thought it was. Firstly, it's spoof proof by both chaff and flare countermeasures. Secondly, a heat-seeking missile wouldn't be able to track a helicopter target fitted with heat diffusers at the range the Ataka air-to-air missile can be fired at. Moreover, a heat-seeking missile would need to defeat the automated i.e., advanced Apache defensive suite. It would probably need four or more heat-seeking missiles to down a single Apache when each is fired consecutively in a rapid manner.
