De-Exit: Eternal Matters | A Voxel Afterlife Adventure Game

My reviews cover indie games that i have bought, had gifted to me and have been provided by developers for review. In this episode I check out a new adventure game called De-Exit: Eternal Matters. This game developed by Sandbloom Studios, and is published by Handy Games, who also released several excellent Indie Titles ive previously reviewed including Oddsparks, Perish and the fantastic Endling: Extinction Is Forever.
De-Exit is a mix of platformer, puzzle game and stealth, utilizing Voxel Graphics to tell a story based on Latin American tales of death and the afterlife. The game takes place in the Planes Of Memory, a place where departed souls converge after death. This once peaceful place has come under assault by the void, a corruption which is rapidly consuming everything in its path. The Player must find a way to halt the corruption by restoring the Pillars, an ancient protective force, as well as confronting Donovan, a former member of the Peacekeeping force called the guardians who has gone mad and seems to destroy the Planes.
The game challenges the player to explore four huge levels, ranging from vast underwater islands, a blazing desert and snowy mountain range in order to reach each pillar. Each level includes a selection of puzzles to solve, enemies to evade and platforming sections to conquer. The games inventive boss battles, stealth system and level design were a huge highlight, with some well implemented set pieces that creatively utilize the voxel graphics.
While I did enjoy finishing the game. It does have some issues such imprecise controls and some performance problems like level loading times and framerate drops. However these issues are largely occuring on the PlayStation 4 port of the game. So if your looking to pick this game up, I highly recommend either the Steam or PlayStation 5 port in order for a smoother gaming experience
