In this episode I check out one of the most original little indie games ive played this year with Obenseuer. This game was developed and published by Loiste Interactive, who also released the puzzle game Infra. Obenseuer takes place in the titular town of Obenseuer, located in an unnamed country in the Soviet Union. The town name translates to Open Sewer, an accurate name given the town is a cesspit. The citizens suffer from poverty, crime and corruption. To make matters worse a deadly disease runs rampant through Obenseuer, spread by a virulent mushroom plague. The player finds themselves trapped in the town courtesy of the corrupt government, who have placed you in charge of a derelict apartment block.
Your objective is to restore the apartments, thus providing a place for the citizens to reside as they eke out their miserable existence. In order to do this youll need to make raise money any way you can. Will you be a law abiding citizen, working an honest job as a labourer or office worker, using your wage to build a home for your fellow citizens, or will you stray from the straight and narrow, stealing, wheeling and dealing ilicit substances to build your own criminal empire, whilst exploiting the citizens of Obenseuer as you see fit. But beware, while the Police have little interest in enforcing the law, if your actions draw too much attention youll find yourself incarcerated.... or worse.
This game is one of the most creative and innovative indie games ive played, with the developer creating a sandbox for the player to explore in any way they choose. There are a huge amount of activities you can engage in to earn your fortune, from Mining, Metalwork, Woodwork, Farming, Cooking and trading in legal or less legal commodities. Players will find dozens of hours of enjoyment in Obenseuer. If your a fan of similar games like Drug Dealer Simulator this game is an absolute must play.

Become the landlord of a run-down tenement
Due to a clerical error, you have received full ownership of an unfinished apartment building.
This rat hole is your base of operations for your upcoming empire.
Upgrade and maintain the building to lease apartments for the Obenseuer's quirky inhabitants, and to build facilities for your growing business.
Decorate your apartment and equip your workshop
Time to make those barren, cold, concrete rooms look nice and cozy.
You can purchase and craft various different furnishing and manufacturing tools that you can place around freely.
The building's basement has enough space for a proper factory of your own.
Grow turnips
Despite the darkness, coldness and wetness of a depressing November, practicing agriculture is still possible!
Farm turnips and potatoes, etc., and convert them into liquid gold for a hefty profit.
Considering one of the probable reasons you ended up in Obenseuer in the first place, you'll probably consume at least some of your own refined turnip juice yourself. Also, having something to eat is pretty nice.
Discover dark secrets
As seen earlier, Obenseuer is home to a myriad of weirdos. Quack! And there are plenty more weird, dark things going on.
Do tasks and quests for various locals and discover what is happening beneath the surface in Obenseuer.
The secret ingredient is crime!
Steal, sabotage and break-in. In Obenseuer there are no rules!
Actually... there are, and the jail, run by the local militia, is not a nice place. So don't get caught!
