De Mambo (Nintendo Switch) Review | 8-Bit Eric | 8-Bit Eric
This is a review of De Mambo for the Nintendo Switch by 8-Bit Eric. D.e Mambo is primarily a multiplayer game where the emphasis is on one button gameplay. the idea is this game is meant to be bare minimum. The graphics in this game are very minimalistic, your characters are circles with smiley faces, and the enemies look like very retro alien creatures, the menus, music everything just has this retro feel to it and I personally dig it. The controls are even pretty minimal and retro in feel, as I mentioned the game prides itself on one button action.
You have a single attack assigned to the A button and the left control stick or D-pad is used to move and jump. Depending on how long you hold the button down, you can use a different attack. Hold it down a bit longer and you get a brisk 360 degree swipe. Hold it down even longer and you get a charged shot that races off in four directions. Players can jump three times in a row (twice while in the air). There are three modes, multiplayer, solo, and survival. In multiplayer You and your three opponents have to battle in an attempt to knock each other out of one various single screen stages. You unlock other levels the further you progress, and each level starts to have unique obstacles and other things to get in the way of the chaotic action.
It is similar to smash in that knock each other out of the stage, in order to do this you have to bang your opponents into the breakable walls. The game lacks online multiplayer, which might turn away some, since it is not always easy to get four players to sit with you at a time, but with the Nintendo Switch it is easy enough to take it anywhere and play against anyone. But not all hope is lost, The game has a single player campaign mode, In single player, there are four modes of difficulty with several stages in them, where you have to complete a single simple task, anything from escape, to survive, etc, the levels are timed with very short time limits.
