Splatoon 2 (Nintendo Switch) Review | 8-Bit Eric | 8-Bit Eric
This is a review of Splatoon 2 for the Nintendo Switch by 8-Bit Eric. Splatoon 2 is the sequel to 2015 Splatoon. Online play was the heart of Splatoon, and that focus remains in Splatoon 2. The majority of modes all consist of 3 min rounds. 4 vs 4 Regular mode features the classic - TURF WAR - ink the most ground in order to win. Turn into a squid, you can swim in your paint color, it also refills your paint. RANKED MODE - unlocks after level 10, this is where the more experienced players play. Different modes are available for ranked mode. Splat Zones - basically capture the point, in which two teams of four Inklings battle for control over a single point in the map. Tower Defense - The aim of the game here it to splat the ground on top of a single tower RainMaker - two teams fight to possess the Rainmaker weapon, and take it deep into enemy territory. I personally found the regular matches of turf war to be more entertaining and fun. I didn’t find ranked matches to keep my interested as long as turf war did where the action seems much more faster and chaotic. Single player - I didn’t play single player on the first splatoon and I haven’t played it beyond the first few stages on this version.
The story is Callie, the pop star singer featured in Splatoon 1, has gone missing, and it’s your job to find out what happened to her. The game’s solo adventure is spread across five different worlds, each with its own hub. Most of my time with Splatoon 2 has been spent within the multiplayer. The multiplayer is just too good to not be playing it. I personally feel anytime spent in single player is time I could be leveling up in multiplayer. Salmon run is a new mode featured in Splatoon, it is a timed event, and not everyday so you have to pay attention to the schedule when it is announced. It is new co-operative mode Available for both local multiplayer and online four players team up to defeat the Salmonids and steal their delicious eggs, It is a pretty fun mode, and too bad that it is often locked under time constraints. Because the bosses of salmon run are absolutely creative Splatfest - once in a while there will be an event where you pick a side in a cute little war. The first one coming up as of this review… ketchup vs Mayonaise I picked team ketchup!
