Dead Lantern Pictures Archives: DEADBOLT (2011)
3This film came to me after a discussion with my girlfriend about why she was concerned about always double checking to see if the deadbolt on the front door was locked. I thought "Huh, that would be creepy if the deadbolt kept unlocking itself." DEADBOLT was originally intended to be part of the SHIVERS DOWN YOUR SPINE web-series. We jettisoned that idea and turned it into an anthology film after the fact.
This was a fun shoot done in Lincoln, Nebraska. We got to experiment with memory foam pillows and reverse film techniques and did our first visual fx in hiding the strings lifting up the remote control. It didn't quite turn out the way I hoped, but still a fun early example of expanding our cinematic toolkit with experimentation. - Mathew Kister (Director)
