Review - This is a basic shmup for PC-engine standards but still advanced compared to other shmups of the time. You get a good arsenal of weapons that quickly become screen fillers, and they also double up as hit points so if you get hit, you just lower your weapon level rather than dying. I really like this system and you do get punished for not having the highest weapon level but at least you are given a chance.
It started pretty easy for me as I got to the 4th level without continuing but then it got really hard. Once you lose your amassed extra lives and weapon power up, then you need to start really learning the levels and be tactical in what weapons you pick up.
Fortunately, you get infinite continues to keep trying instead of starting the game from the beginning again. Another plus for the game.
I wasn’t expecting the last level to be stage 6. It was really difficult and took me many continues to do as the last boss has 3 stages. I was close to giving up but when I did it, I didn’t die and I was expecting at least another 2 levels, so it was such a nice surprise.
It’s not big or anything special, but it’s a solid shooter with a fair system that is just about doable in the first sitting.
