Playthrough with time attack mode with Kasumi. This is mainly a demonstration of how overpowered the kickflip is against the CPU. This game’s AI is horrendous, but if you want an easy 1CC, Kasumi is best girl. Actually, she’s not the only one who can do this, this strat also works with Hayabusa and Raidou, who also have kickflips.

The first two opponents you can usually defeat just by mashing the punch button. From stage 3 onwards it’s kickflip time. The input is up back + kick. The CPU doesn’t tend to deal with this move very well, usually at the start of the round they’ll try and do something, but it’ll usually never beat the kickflip. If you do another one they may block it and hit back, at which point doing another kickflip is enough to save the day.

I spent what felt like forever getting Ayane unlocked, but I thought it’d be worth it because I knew she had a kickflip, so I thought beating the game with her would be easy. Then when I finally got her unlocked, used her in training mode, and was horrified to discover that her kickflip is slower than anyone else’s -she turns around before she does the move, and the CPU can and will hit her before she can do it. I did still manage to 1CC the game with her:

But it’s not as easy as it is with Kasumi. Speaking of Ayane, you don't get to fight her in time attack mode.

When you beat this mode, you can enter your initials. The game uses a name entry screen similar to the arcade version’s. Strangely this name entry screen never appears when you beat tournament mode.
