Dead Space - Part 1: So that's the Ishimura
14You may remember that last year I made a video asking what game I should play through for Halloween, and Dead Space 2 got the most votes. Since that's probably my favorite LP we've done so far, we decided to go through Dead Space 1 this year. Does this mean we'll do Dead Space 3 next Halloween? it probably does
Also we change the difficulty to hard in part 4 I think. Medium is too easy.
The protagonist of Dead Space is Isaac Clarke, an engineer working for the CEC and part of the emergency response unit of the USG Kellion. After losing contact with the USG Ishimura, the Kellion is sent to investigate the ship's problems.
The Ishimura is a deep space mining ship, known as a planetcracker. Using powerful gravity tethers, it breaks extremely large pieces of rock off of the planet to be mined and processed. It was the first ship of its kind, and became the symbol of hope for humanity after a near extinction event on Earth due to over-consumption of resources.
The Ishimura houses over 1,300 crew members, including Nicole Brennan, senior medical officer of the ship and Isaac Clarke's girlfriend. Having convinced her to take the job on the Ishimura in the first place, Isaac plans on finding her while on board the ship to fix it.
The ship is in orbit around a remote planet called Aegis VII. Something happened on the planet during the mining operation that caused these pink jelly-filled guys to appear on the ship and stuff i guess. We have an excuse to dismember stuff now so it's ok.
