2Trapped within the graveyard, Jack proceeds to fight his way through to escape while being mercilessly pursued by the mysterious gunmen in clown masks. Despite the stiff resistance, Jack is able to fight his way to the exit, even destroying an van with mounted machinegun deployed by the assassins to stop him. As he escapes, narrowly avoiding his former superior Dick Hennessey, Jack finds an payphone and calls Eve, assuming that the group that attacked him at the graveyard were Mayhem Inc. assassins. However, Eve informs him that this was likely not the case as Mayhem Inc. are preparing to strike at the next day's electoral debate between incumbent Mayor William Pinnacle and his main opponent, Gloria Exner as the bounty had been put out for Exner's life. With Gloria Exner having been the last person to employ Frank Slate prior to his death to dig up compromising information on Pinnacle, Jack realizes that she will likely know more about the background of what Frank had discovered and thus, resolves to intervene to protect her from being assassinated...
