Dear Esther: Landmark Edition Review
185Hello! I hope you're doing well! Welcome to my review of Dear Esther: Landmark Edtion
This game has a pretty interesting history. It was initially released as a mod for Half-Life 2, and then was made into a full game a few years later, and finally, the Landmark Edition a few years after that. This game is one of the first-ever walking simulators, and it kind of spawned a whole wave of them afterward because of the success it was able to have. So, I do think the enjoyment that someone would have playing this, would come from how much they do or do not enjoy those types of games. There are no objectives, and no enemies, and the usual common ground of most games, but it does have a very fascinating story within it that is told in fragments from this man narrating these letters to his wife. And along with that, some incredible sweeping and soothing music, and it all makes for a very pleasant experience, although the game does have a lot of darkness to it. All in all, I just really enjoyed this game. I didn't really know what to expect with it, and it ended up being so much more than I could have hoped for.
