It’s been a long time coming, but we are actually coming to a close on Switch. Just wild. It genuinely feels like it came out YESTERDAY. I was 15/16 when it came out, so I guess the arrival of Switch 2 is also like seeing a chapter on my own childhood close. When the Switch came out and I couldn’t afford it at all cause I was a kid with limited savings, I remember feeling actually sad, staring at BOTW with DESIRE. But when I DID get that Switch with my own money, I don’t think another console launch in my lifetime will ever be so exciting. I’ll always remember the Switch as being a revolution. It was really fun seeing all the discourse play out in real time, and be there for the ride, which was a lot of fun. But it’s ok: nothing dies. There’ll be even more material to whine about for over 5 years!!!!! Yes!!!!

Enjoy my list, and remember it’s not a top 10, and that this isn’t trying to rank the objective best games, which would otherwise be.... mostly the same, I guess? But more boring. Below are the honorable mentions, the ones that just couldn’t make the cut, so instead of wasting your time expecting certain games, read this:

Pokemon Unite (2021)
BOTW (2017)
TOTK (2023)
Metroid Dread (2021)
Xenoblade/Monolith Soft in general
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (2017)
Splatoon 2 (2017)
Splatoon 3 (2023)
Super Mario Maker 2 (2019)
Arms (2017)
Super Mario RPG (2023)
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (2024)
Mario and Luigi: Brothership (2024)
Bayonetta 2 (2018)
Bayonetta 3 (2022)
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (2021)

I have more to say, but there is somehow a 5000 character limit on the description, so I’m gonna post the full honorable mentions in the comments, and keep my fingers crossed that the Switch 2 can live up to this, even if I am seriously disappointed by some factors. Thanks for watching!
