When I got this computer, I put in a spare ATI Radeon 4870 512 mbs video card, but it had some problems. The image quality for the video editing and game play was aweful, so I replaced it again with a spare MSI Geforce GTX 260 216 core video card. The MSI Geforce GTX 260 896 mbs video card was reliable and the image quality was good; however, it was very slow. I decided to purchase a new graphics card for my Dell Precision T5500 computer.
At first I couldn't find any graphics cards at a reasonable price, but after a week of searching they had a new batch of PNY Geforce GTX 1060s 6 gb video cards for about $329 + tax on Amazon. I ordered it last Saturday 04/21/2018, and I got it on Tuesday. This new card comes with a DVI-D slot, so it will not work with a DVI-D interface. I tried to put it in, and it didn't work. I had to use a HDMI to VGA conversion cable to get the monitor to display. Other than that, the graphics card works fine. Before when I tried to play games, like Modern Warfare 3 with the Geforce GTX 260 it would stutter often. When I tried to play newer games like Bioshock Infinite, it was very slow. You could notice it, and it made game play difficult. The benefits of this new video card is that it edits videos faster, and it performs 3d applications faster as well. I am glad I was patient and waited a couple of weeks, because I was going to buy the Geforce GTX 970 on Newegg of $399.99 + tax which was available. I am glad I waited, because the GTX 1060 6 gbs is faster than the Geforce GTX 970, and it cost $80 less as well.
Overall, I was very happy with this video card, and it was a good replacement for the MSI Geforce GTX 260 896 mb graphics card I had before it.
