Demon's Crest [SNES] - Journey #282 (1/2)
Demon's Crest is a sequel to Gargoyle's Quest (which we played earlier on Journey). Again, you play as the demon Firebrand, but this time you are not out to save the realm, you are out to conquer it. Unfortunately, some other bloke has messed with your plan and stolen the pieces of the Demon's Crest, which you need to rule, so it is up to you to go get them. The game in itself is a platformer with the pretty unique ability to fly indefinitely, as well as you are able to scale walls. You also get various power-ups by beating bosses which modifies your attack or even gives you new forms to utilize. While the music is not overly memorable, the game looks very good with big colorful sprites, well painted backgrounds and a very impressive over-world.
I must say that from the little I've played, I really enjoy this game. The combat works well, the mechanics are solid, the jumping and climbing is on spot and the bosses are challenging, but still doable. I can understand why people praise this game, it is darn fun so far!
