In this video, we check out the Origami Arcade Cabinet for the Nintendo Switch.

Last year, Nintendrew posted an amazing video showing how to build an arcade cabinet for your Nintendo Switch. The craftsmanship he put into was super cool, even down to incorporating a mini-fridge in the base! If you haven't seen it, check it out at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZve2k425ko as it is really amazing.

When I saw this I knew I wanted one. Then I looked in my game room and realized I don't have the room. Oh, I also don't have the tools. Dang. When I thought all was lost I received an email from Banggood.com where they asked if I wanted to check out their Origami Arcade Dock Kit for the Switch. I may not have power tools but I can fold like a blanket!

The Origami Kit comes in a Labo-inspired box. The artwork, fonts, description imeadiately made me feel like this belonged with the Labo family. There was a bit of a wrinkle in the outer box from shipping but thankfully there wasn't any damage to the unit itself.

Once it was time to get my fold on it went together fairly quickly. There are a few tricky areas, mostly getting the area that holds the Switch itself in the dock folded and in-place. That's really the only struggle I had in the roughly 10-minutes assembly phase.

When I went to begin testing things didn't seem right as left and right were up and down, and up and down were right and left. This was annoying because, while I could play like this it definitely wasn't ideal. I dove into the settings options in the Switch Menu and changed the way the JoyCons were setup. You need to set the JoyCons up as a Player 1/2 NES or SNES-style horizontal controller instead of the Left and Right single player configuration, like if you had the JoyCons in the JoyCon Grip or on the Switch itself. Once I changed this the Origami Arcade Dock was amazing to use and so much fun. While I didn't have a player 2 next to me there's definitely enough room to throw down old-school arcade-style.

Why it RoX:
- Under $10
- Easy to assemble
- Finished product looks great
- Securely holds your Switch and JoyCons
- Made out of thick materieals
- Customizeable with stickers and markers (sold separately)

What could be improved?
- Some of the pre-creased hinges were difficult to fold
- Instructions were ok on the box but an actual instruction sheet would be appreciated
- Makes me regret not having the Blue and Red JoyCons

Should you get one?
If you're looking for an awesome novelty piece for your Switch and you have an affinity for arcade cabinets there are worse things you can spend $10 on. This is a super-fun display piece that is also functional and I really think is awesome.
