I originally bought Beyond Despair upon release and was not impressed by the technical issues. Sadly, the developers abandoned the project and went into development on the current version, Desolate. From the few hours of play, I can see some of the old areas made it in as well as the little girl who pops up as a jump scare. Frame rate is still a problem as well as a few UI problems, but the game has shown massive improvements over the original. I cannot give a final verdict just yet, but it is hard to recommend a game from a developer that already abandoned a game. They are offering free copies to previous owners, but again, I don't trust inserting my Steam information into a website from developers who abandoned a project.
