Burt Ryan, an old friend of Jack Costello, is looking for Jack because he's in trouble up to his neck. He is a boxer and has won in a fictitious fight, although he was told that he should lose. He then made off with the prize money, but now the betting mafia is after him. Only a short time later, Jack has to hold him off a gang of thugs and Burt dives down. But then Burts son Yo-Yo turns up at Jack. He says he promised his father to visit him if he did not come back. Jack and Dumas set out to find his father. But when potential witnesses are ruthlessly murdered, Jack doubts that these are really just fake boxing matches.
