If you ended up on the first video I made last September 8, 2019, I apologize. This is an update to that and the video will actually show how to do it.

Steam did update their User interface and that will also be shown here. Please read the following instructions to delete your save file:

1) disable cloud saves for the game: Open Steam, go to Library, Games, right-click Devil May Cry 5, go to Properties, UPDATES tab, uncheck the box under Steam Cloud.

2) delete files in the game's save directory: Open Steam, go to Library, Home, right-click Devil May Cry 5, go to Properties, LOCAL FILES tab, click Browse Local Files, look for the folder win64_save, delete the contents of win64_save.

The path should look similar to this C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Devil May Cry 5\win64_save

3) delete save game backup: Open Steam, go to Library, Home, right-click Devil May Cry 5, go to Properties, LOCAL FILES tab, click Backup Game Files.

At the Backup and Restore Programs click Next copy the path at the Backup Destination "c:\program files (x86)\steam\Backups" then open a file explorer and paste the path, you can also use run (press and hold the key on your keyboard with the windows icon then press R or just click the magnifying glass at the lower left of your screen next to the Windows logo then type run, paste the path).

Go back one folder or click Steam, look for userdata, open it, then the next folder (your steam id) then open the folder 601150, go to remote, then win64_save again and delete the contents. The path should look similar to this C:\program files (x86)\steam\userdata\857679724\601150\remote and take note the folder "857679724" is unique to each user, you will have a different folder name.

4) Start the game, complete the prologue, exit the game then go back to steam, enable cloud to save again. Run the game and if it prompts you to copy the files, click the option to update the local files.
