DFFOO [JP][Divine Odin] Gabranth marking criminals and Alphinaud's last job before EW
Alphinaud is undoubtedly the MVP of this fight. Same can be said to other characters such as Ursula, Locke with BT and potentially Steiner.
Odin makes a return as the final divine summon and the first one to get a shinryu stage. Well this time with the ample amount of characters and tools we have going through the LD era, he is actually not that much of a challenge.
Still, there are quite a few things worth noting or you would still die.
I use Gabranth here, but you can still use Kam and blow this up. Though you would need to be very mindful of Odin's Aura, or you would die young.
Divine Odin:
Standard Shinryu reduction with additional Odin aura effect at different levels:
0: No aura
1: Yellow aura: Lower player mBRV/mHP
2: Red aura: Yellow aura + 100% buff success rate down on player
3: Just Die (Divine Zantetsuken+)
Aura level increases on Odin's thresholds and on player breaks
Threshold: 10/40/50/70/80/90 = +1 LV
20 = +2 Lv
Aura level decreases when player breaks Odin
Force Mechanics:
FG:
20-40%:
Player DEF down, BRV dmg taken up (10/30%), BRV dmg down (30/50%)
60-80%
Odin ATK/SPD/BRV/HP dmg up (10/30%)
FA: Divine Zantetsuken
(Break Recovery/AoE BRV+HP, 1 buff removal (frame inclusive))
If break or hitting a broken target = death
Inflict a debuff (something akin to Lightning flash "紫電一閃")
FT: 3 turns
1. The debuff lowers your defence, but if you are struck again during Odin's FT with this debuff on, Odin would use Cross Slash+ and kill the targeted character.
2. Any player on turn action = 1 turn delay
Thresholds:
Other than the aura level increase on different thresholds, Odin also gets 3 immediate consecutive turns at 10%/50%/80%.
Normal moves:
There are not many dangerous normal moves. Though you would need to be mindful of a few of them.
1. Vertical Slice: BRV gain/BRV+HP
He does get quite a significant amount of BRV, so if you are not careful it may one shot you. Thankfully inside summon realm everyone's HP is boosted.
2. Grungnir
Not the Kain style of Grungnir but it has a lot of AoE BRV hits that can break up. It does hit quite hard as his FG goes up.
3. Doppelhau (I presume it is the same attack from GL version)
It inflicts break. If you have the debuff inside FT, you die.
Overall:
Biggest problems of this fight are the aura levels, breaks, dmg and consecutive turns.
The more you get broken, the more dangerous it gets. Odin gets closer to one hit killing all of your party members and you get increased reduction.
The consecutive teleported turns + auto aura level increase add to this if you are not mindful of when to push the boss. Say if you get him to yellow aura and then push him below 20%, aura level immediately reaches 3 and you simply die. So in a way, you can view this as a soft blockade to your insane DPS FT rush downs. You can still do it, you just need to be mindful of winding him down with breaks and the thresholds.
Tips:
Anti-break characters:
Alphinaud/Ursula and Locke BT prevents your entire party from being broken. Having them effectively wins you half of the battle and saves you from countless troubles and additional reduction.
Mind you, you would still die to the FT attack though
Kam:
Kam disables the enemies and his BT debuff allows your nearest character on the turn queue to warp next to his turns when he is disabled, effectively allowing you to break his consecutive turns. I believe you can also use him to waste the boss's FT duration without dying.
Gabranth:
Gabranth gets quite a big update after ... 3 reruns of his LD? He gets a lot more HP dumps over the board, but don't expect him to be a DPS.
His generic debuffs are now more desirable and up to standard. You can also silver frame the ATK/DEF down with his LD now.
He is more of a defence/HP dmg hybrid master now than he has ever been. I don't think he gives you BRV dmg up, but he gives you quite a bit of HP dmg (taken & cap) up on his BT. On the defensive side, he puts tons of ATK down and 50% HP dmg down by upgrading the current criminal mark debuff. Much like Raijin LDCA, this still works against prevalent Shinryu bosses that are often ignoring HP dmg mitigation as it is on the debuff side.
His updated LD buff and C88 also contribute to heavy additional protection. This is also why you see @19:09 Alphinaud took an Odin attack at 40K+ BRV to the face and still lived fine.
Also. his party batteries are gigantic, even though he does not have party BRV gain.
His FR gives +30% to party members breaking the target and +15% to attacking a debuff target. And yes, I have already tested that Caius BT works with this every turn, and I suspect why he is getting C90 later in Decemeber. Similarly Noel/Vayne work wonders with his FR.
