DFFOO [JP][CoD FR Raid] Only Characters starting with C & K (Kain, Kam, Caius, Cod Fd)
Funny enough, my original clear was with Yda, Selphie and Sherlotta and another with the copy and paste team of Machina, Auron and Sherlotta (obviously the fastest), but I wanted to give CoD FR a try to see how much friend potential CoD has got again in the new age, so I did this with another team, and I think as a friend the FR does pretty well in general.
Game keeps giving me connection error when I try to enter battle though, so don't have a lot of time to try and perfect this. Originally only wanted to try Caius x CoD FR, but it turns out that Kam is pretty good as well with a bit of secret interaction.
Kain is mostly there to burn through the first half with the first Kam FR, so pay him no mind. If not for Kain, I would probably use Yda again just because you can keep inflicting Kam's BT debuff.
Boss Info:
Force mechanic:
40%: Boss SPD up
60/80%: Boss SPD Up and Action delay down
FA: (no BRV/HP hits)
Guaranteed Delay all player characters by 1 turn
If current BRV is lower than iBRV, then gain BRV up to iBRV
FT: 5 turns
BRV/HP dmg up and further action delay down
You would see a bunch of their turns as their FT starts. Even if you break them and push them back, more of their turns will accumulate at the end queue, making it harder to "break them in order" or away.
Weakness:
(i) FA that has magic BRV attack that delays the target
(ii) Entering FT would dispel boss FT
Threshold Mechanics:
20/80%: Boss gain 200% HP dmg reduction and field turn HP regen (1.7m ~2% of max HP)
Delaying them would dispel them of this aura. Same as the Quistis LD release floating eye boss, the HP regen is huge and ticks every turn. The aura is managed separately, so you can push one and use an AoE delay attack to get at least some dmg on one of the bosses while knocking the aura off.
Danger and tips:
Not too dangerous other than a bunch of turns as they approach FT and an attack called Scissor Claw (BRV+HP). Normally it hits for around 15000 unmitigated, but with FT BRV/HP dmg up, it can hit up to 35k+ a pop. On top of that they can put a huge max HP down debuff onto you, so Scissor Claw becomes under normal circumstances as well.
Since it is a BRV+HP attack though, you can use freeze from Cater/Setzer or Seifer's EX to quell the threat, making them harmless. Just bear in mind that the consecutive turns may lead to them cycling back to Scissor Claw in one cycle.
If you time it right, you only need 2 delays to dispel all HP regens/200% HP dmg reduction, so a CA and brothers would do already. I would say AoE delay is much more convenient in general and leave more room for error. In this case, I brought Seymour LDCA, Caius/Kam/Kain EX, all of which are repeatable AoE delay.
The 200% HP dmg reduction is there to stop you and your ordinary FR x BT push. If your BT character does not have a delay on his/her skillset, then FR x BT kinda wastes time. Kam BT here is okay since his EX delays.
Other than these characters, Seifer and Selphie are pretty good for this as well. Seifer EX stops all dmg from the boss and delays them every time with good dmg while Selphie ensures launch, gravity and delays.
Caius / Kam BT/EX x CoD FR
CoD FR has 3 conditions:
(i) Magic command/off turn attack - 5%
(ii) Delay attacks - 30%
(iii) Delays excluding breaks - 20%
When Caius/Kam is put inside Bahamuto summon, the EX spams delays and it is not due to the breaks (in Caius's case). So they would gain full 50% HP bonus.
Caius's EX + BT in particular is very good for a CoD friend, because he guarantee breaks when his turn ends and does not allow CoD BT follow-up to jump turns unexpectedly and prematurely ending her stay. It also launches, so there is a lot of value in it.
If I am not mistaken, application of Kam's BT debuff is counted as a magic attack after every turn of your ally's attack when his BT is active. So you can get a sneaky 5% in addition to CoD's own 5% from BT follow-up. We can observe that when my FT had around 4 turns left and Kam's BT fell off, the extra 5% was gone.
While CoD is pretty good as a friend unit again due to C90/rewrok/FR, do bear in mind that the BT follow-up would remain at 1 HP dump unless something like BT board appears later down the line. In relation to the current boss HP pool, and other follow-up character like Kain, FT is probably needed for it to deal significant dmg.
