DFFOO [GL][Divine Shiva] A GL only team with Ace, Cor, Ignis
Kinda want to try some new things for this one on GL, so I recorded this, and put Cor in instead of Vayne this time.
Just like Vayne's Lufenia+, once you know the tricks to dealing with a specific fight, it is significantly easier with an old account on GL.
Just to recap on what is going on in this fight.
The main difficulty of the fight is still inc dmg management and turn count, due to having the potential to be chain frozen.
Note: Divine Shiva does not forget about their HP threshold triggered Diamond Dust and using the threshold ones do not cause their recast gauge to dissipate. They are viewed as separate attacks.
Chain Divine Diamond Dust + Veil:
The main cause of the problem is letting them move, getting broken and causing them to have a slight difference in recast. Getting broken means one of them charges faster. Then while you wait for the freeze from one that does DD first to go away, the other one would have finished charging. Then the cycle repeats alternatingly. Turns lost, dmg taken.
Another cause would be turn order management. If you push the HP thresholds without looking at where their next turn and your turns are at, 9 times out of 10 you would have to wait for a long time.
Tips for solving this:
1. Push them hard at the beginning (80%-100%). Let them move as few times as possible before the first threshold attacks. Then push them both at the same time, unless you have a clear idea of what you are doing. Use heavy hitting attacks, no need to be stingy.
2. Push thresholds when their turns are near you. Since DD force break, your turns end up getting pushed back and they will get their next turn immediately, thus ending the freeze without turn lost.
If you want extra control, considering using Quistis CA, rebreaking characters like Vayne and Jecht to fix the order to your heart's desire. Their locked turns are not impervious to break delays.
3. Jump multiple HP thresholds (ideally the 29%/49%) in one go and tank it with WoL LDCA
It is the single most important way of cutting turns. HP threshold DDs are instantaneous, so at the end of the day you are simply to wait for that once freeze to be over, unless they have their recast up already.
Since Veil does not stack, you effectively shave a lot less of that pesky HP shield.
They will fire multiple DDs at you, but this is where WoL LDCA comes in to soak just everything, including any additional DD or the 19% trigger attack if you are that far into the fight.
4. Use CAs for utility, if you already have fire enchant
Having Ignis fire enchant is enough for your dmg boosts until the 19% threshold. Do remember to reapply the imperil again after waiting for the freezes.
You can let the orb die, it is a perfectly viable strat, though there will be additional dmg reduction. (also automatically happens at 19%) The thing is every time this happens, the boss also consumes 4 turns of their debuffs. So if you go for the ignore orb route and try to buff your dmg through debuff CAs, you may have a hard time maintaining them.
Note: If you let the orb die before 19%, once the orb is back online when it is under 19%, the trigger attack will immediately happen again and enter the dmg reduction phase once more. It is possible to kill them before it happens, but it can be tight.
Cor's Role:
Cor here is not to deal the biggest amount of dmg ever. He is mostly here to provide supplementary dmg (esp when we try to jump HP thresholds).
He also provides dmg moderation and stalling for breaks, effectively fixing the turn order if need be. Say if there are still quite some HP% to shave off before Ace could put up the WoL shield and BT for threshold push, you can use his LD to fix it.
Additionally he prevents breaks for himself and the character of your choosing unless it is DD. It can be quite useful when Veil is off.
His off-turn also helps uptick the orb, though Ace traps should have covered everything you need.
