DIABLO 3: REAPER OF SOULS ANNOUNCED - GAMESCOM 2013
Blizzard announced at Gamescom that their top-down action RPG Diablo 3 is getting its first expansion!
Unveiled this week in Germany, the expansion is called Reaper of Souls and features Malthael, the fallen Archangel of Wisdom. He was featured in Lord of Destruction and now he is back as the Angel of Death and he's snagged the Black Soulstone.
You'll have to track him down before he unleashes Prime Evil on the world, and you'll get a new hero to help you! The Crusader is a warrior of righteousness that is very tank-like. The Crusader wear heavy armor and wields a variety of weapons in addition to using battle magic to strengthen allies and weaken enemies.
There have been several key enhancements to core gameplay including more end-game options. The level cap has been raised to 70 and the original character classes will receive new spells and abilities with the new higher levels. There is a greater emphasis on randomized environments, new monsters, new quests, and what Blizzard is calling, "substantial updates to the loot experience." Which includes allow players to customize their character with improved multilevel Legendary items, new Blacksmith and Jeweler item-crafting, and more.
There will also be 2 new game modes, Loot Runs and Nephalem Trials. No release date or pricing announced.
