Currently one of the best way to farm rare Designs in Reaper of Souls which are used to upgrade your gems to the next tier. EDIT: Rare plans don't drop in Reaper of Souls at level 70 (only set/legendary). This method will only get you rare designs at level 70 and maybe a set plan or legendary plan from time to time.

Since Loot 2.0, Plans or Designs that you have learned will stop dropping

You can get 1 legendary per hour on average as well by running this

The rare designs that you can find are to upgrade the Flawless Imperial gems (amethyst, diamond, emerald, ruby, topaz) to Royal gems and then the Royal gems to Flawless Royal gems.
