Diablo 4 players are perplexed by Blizzard's Decision!
Wazzup Everyone, welcome back!
Diablo 4 players are bewildered by Blizzard's decision to re-lock Waypoints and are calling for revisions. The community has expressed disappointment with the Season 1 update for Diablo 4 and is now criticizing this change as it seems illogical to the players.
Waypoints in Diablo 4 allow players to quickly travel to various locations on the map. Initially, when the game was launched, players had to explore the entire map to unlock these locations, including Waypoints, which required activation. While some Waypoints can be discovered during regular exploration, others are locked within Strongholds and will not appear until players conquer that area. The campaign enables players to unlock a few major Waypoints, but the majority still need to be manually unlocked by visiting those specific locations. However, with the launch of Season 1, most of the Waypoints were re-locked, even for players who had previously unlocked them, and the community is not pleased with this.
In a post on the Diablo 4 subreddit, user potionmine expressed their confusion regarding the need for players to re-explore the map every few months to unlock Waypoints they had already activated. They questioned Blizzard's rationale behind this decision and wondered if it would have made more sense for players to re-run the campaign instead. Most players seemed to agree with potionmine's sentiment and were equally puzzled by this change.
Additionally, players are also required to conquer all the Strongholds again to earn Renown points in Diablo 4, which unlock rewards like Skill Points and XP. Fortunately, players who had previously completed strongholds were not forced to redo them to access the Dungeons in those areas. However, players are still unable to comprehend why Blizzard made this choice and are calling for a more sensible and rewarding alternative to simply obtaining Renown points.
The Season of the Malignant has brought forth other issues as well. A majority of the community was displeased with character nerfs in Diablo 4. Reduced XP gains, increased difficulty in monster health scaling, and undisclosed nerfs to players' existing items led to the game being review bombed once again. Consequently, Blizzard held an emergency Campfire Chat to assure fans that they were taking the feedback seriously and would be making changes in the near future.
