1,374Macy’s declined to be the department store in the movie! Despite being the store where Jovie works, Gimbels was no longer in business at the time of filming the movie, but the director approached the man who had the rights to Gimbels and filmed the interior scenes inside a department store in Vancouver. Initially, they wanted to use Macy’s store but they were declined because of the scene in which they use a fake Santa. Macy’s is known for its Santa at Christmas and didn’t want to be associated with blowing the illusion for kids.
