Emma Thompson went through a serious transformation to portray the bullying headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, in Netflix's adaptation of Matilda the Musical, but her physical training wasn’t to get into shape. For the scene in which Trunchbull takes Amanda by the pigtails and throws her over the wall, Thompson had to be taught the proper technique of the hammer throw. This training was done by a professional athlete, a hammer thrower, who was brought in to advise and teach the actress!
